Some Rules and Regs

WELCOME—ENJOY YOUR VISIT. Please be considerate of those who will use the facilities in this state park after you. To help ensure your safety and pleasure, please observe state park rules and regulations.
1. Astronomy field users must obtain a permit and pay fees before setting up. Access into and around the field is not guaranteed in those areas open for year-round use. (Visitors should determine local conditions by contacting the park prior to arrival.) [Title 17 Section 11.218 Camping; overnight facilities]
2. Astronomy sites must be vacated by 3 p.m. of the day the permit expires. [Title 17 Section 11.209 Miscellaneous activities (b1)]
3. The astronomy field will be closed when it is filled. No “overflow” areas are permitted. [Title 17 Section 11.218 Camping; overnight facilities.]
4. Licensed vehicle operators shall obey posted speed limits. Excessive noise, nuisance, reckless, or negligent operation is prohibited. Commercial traffic is allowed on state recreation area roads only with specific written approval from the Department. [Title 17 Section 11.207 Traffic and parking]
5. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited in this park and all other State Parks except those specifically designated by the Director. [Title 17 Section 11.209 Miscellaneous activities; (b2) Vehicle Code 75 4523 Excessive noise – Reckless driving – VC (3736) (3714)]
6. Pets are not permitted on the astronomy observation field. [Title 17 Section 11.212 Pets (c)]
7. Operation of electric generators that create unreasonable or excessive noise are prohibited. [Title 17 Section 11.209 Miscellaneous activities (b3) noise]
8. Discharge of trailer sewage or sink waste (gray water) on the ground or into surface water is prohibited. [Title 17 Section 11.214 Waste (1)]
Violation of any park rules and regulations or any misrepresentation by individuals using the areas and facilities for purposes other than those defined may warrant cancellation of camping permit, removal from the park, and/or criminal prosecution.
